System Analsyts- what qualifications do you need to be a system analyst- Part 4

6 Mar

Hey guys😀

As I said in my last blog I will be talking about the Technical Skills that a system analyst should have😀

Technical skills focus on the procedures and techniques for operations analysis, system analysis, and computer science.  System analysts should have technical skills like the ability to understand how computers, data networks, databases, etc work together, as well as knowing what their potentials and limitations are.  A system analyst needs to have technical skills not just to perform tasks assigned to him/her but also to communicate with other people who they work with in system developments.  The technical knowledge of a system analyst, as you know, needs to be updated from time to time as technology changes so fast and there are always new systems and new ways of doing things.  As you can tell system analysts need to keep up to date or else they will miss out on new opportunities when it comes to updating systems and helping customers, if they do not keep up to date businesses could get another system analyst who will keep up to date.

System analysts should be familiar with such families of technology as possible, the following are some examples of the technologies families :

  • Operating systems (UNIX, Mac/OS, Windows)
  • Data Exchange Protocols (ftp,http,etc)
  • Information systems( databases, MISs, decision support systems)
  • System Development tools and environments (such as report generators, office automation tools, etc), etc

System analysts should know the above and others as well as modern methods and techniques for describing, modeling and building systems

For more information about technical skills, check out :

This is also where I got my information from😀

The above is a YouTube video of a system analyst and his experience of being a system analyst😀 its nice to hear someone who actually works in the area, to see what it would be like to be a system analyst.

I hope from the last few blogs you will see what skills you would need to be a system analyst and how important they are in businesses.  I hope that by reading the blogs you can see some of those skills in yourself and maybe become a system analyst😀

If you want more information about system analysts please check out the following pages :

Enjoy😀
