Trends in Information Systems: Cloud Computing

8 Mar

Hey guys,

Seen as this is my last blog, I said I would describe a modern trend in an information system that is also a very impressive system.

Cloud computing is the use of certain computer services that are used over a network, typically the internet. The name comes from the cloud shape symbol as a concept for the intricate infrastructure that it contains in system diagrams. By using clod computing users are provided access to application software and databases. The companies that provides these cloud computing services manage the infrastructure and platforms on which the necessary applications run.

The place where you store your software as known as Saas and is usually priced on a pay-per-use basis. They usually charge user of it on a subscription base payment. It is thought that SaaS allows for companies reducing their operational ad IT costs and is done by outsourcing hardware and software maintenance to the cloud provider. This allows the company to worry and focus more on other IT jobs that have to be completed.
End users access the applications stored in the cloud through a web browser or light weight desktop. It is also accessible through mobile app which is very prominent at the moment. Businesses software and user’s data are stored separately at a remote location.

Thanks for noticing my blogs and asking questions and commenting.  I hope you have found my take on this topic to be as interesting as I have.

Thanks again 🙂
